Embracing the Future....

Where did the weekend go????-that is the question.. Friday night, I had a nice run with Brooke, to go home be greeted by the invasion of thousands of ants. Aaron and I had to "Ant bomb" our house on Friday night. So, dinner did not really happen until late into the evening. Saturday was spent sleeping in, running earns, going to the recycling center, last minute travel stuff, yummy Subway sandwiches, an afternoon run, pick up some purple stuff, and chilly beers on the back porch while AB smoked a cigar. Sunday, we woke up earlier to have a little breakfast and warm coffee on the deck , as we watched the world wake up. Then off to the Hollabaugh's House for a little pool party. August and 65 weird. Some of us got in the pool and I chose to stay by the chiminea and keep warm. All in all, it was a great weekend. We are total pumped for Friday and vacation time. After I taught my class in the AM, my brain pretty much has checked out for the rest of the day, even though I am busy busy... It is hard to focus on your work, when all you can think about is not working... We are getting really excited to leave in about 6 days for a little Europe- Vaca . Aaron and Tony will be working on the boat this weekend and I will be doing some last minute shopping and relaxing . I have been really tired lately and I sleep a lot . Weird. Also, I am excited to get back to reading my Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe series on the plane flights next week. Also a pool party on Sunday. I hope the weather is nice for the Hollabuagh gathering. On Saturday, Aaron and I woke up to 63 degree weather. We did not care, we took the boat out anyways. But 63 in August is weird, almost unheard of. We spent the morning on the Lake and then ventured back down into the city to spend some much needed time at Costco, and other to do shopping. Mom hung around with us all afternoon. I readjusted my glasses and Aaron add a knife to our Wulsthof kitchen knife collection. Plus, we headed to the book store to buy some books for our long flights in a couple weeks. After a great afternoon with mom, we headed off to Becca's 30 birthday party. It was great, her parent's were in from Texas and her mom's accent was top notch. Then we went back to hang with my rents before a quick night sleep and it was Sunday already. Sunday morning was spent with a little English Breakfast Tea, Coffee, Sourdough French toast and yummy bacon. Then Aaron and I headed to Parkville for a 4mile run at river side park. Aaron surprised me and came home early from working out of town last week. Good times! We ran a 10k on Thursday night around the lake practicing for our Marathon relay in October. On Friday, the truck broke down while we were putting the boat into the lake. What a mess! Tony (AB brother) helped us tow the boat back to our house. Then a little homemade salsa and some family time at the pool. Saturday was jammed packed. We rode 22miles around the lake, and then took a break at the local sweet shop Nellie's . We had some coffee and chocolate. Then we made out way to St. Joe for a BBQ to celebrate Tony and his wife Melissa's 30 and my 28 b-day. We dug out the Slip & Slide and Jacob (nephew) insisted we all slide down it with him. The slide looked a lot longer when we were kids. Then some great BBQ before bed. Sunday, we enjoyed breakfast with AB's family and then headed home. My bike is broken or at least on her last leg. So, we need to look for new bikes, but instead we b...

Well, I am diving through research for almost 8 weeks straight. I am finding out a lot about donors and scholarships. I am bursting at the seams for a few days off. I cannot wait to go to Europe for a bit in 23 days. Pumped to see Pippa, and the sites we have been reading about for almost 2 year now. I am really just ready to get away from the desk for a couple weeks. Cannot wait to drink loads of coffee and maybe some beers too. With that said the next 23 days are jammed packed with activities. We have a BBQ at AB's rents house this weekend, and some much need boat time if the weather will be nice. Then next weekend Becca turns 30 on Saturday, and more lake time with the Toma's. Then hopefully a canoe trip to Chill-town, then a Sunday pool party. A group of our friends are going to the Ozarks for Labor Day weekend. I wish we were going to get to go and hang with everyone and baby Nate. After the pool gig only a few sleeps later we are off to Ireland.... Yeah!!! On the weekly ...

Were did the weekend go? Friday = work, car inspection , Andrews 32 nd b-day and beers at Hoopers . Saturday= Joey turning 3, Justin turning 30 and a great night out at the Royals game. Sunday = Race for the Cure, lots of cleaning and bad TV movies. Until next time: More Sleep and Rain for days!!

As the weekend flew by Aaron is off for another 2 weeks in OK. I wish I had another city to visit this weekend, to help forget that he is gone. It might be lame to say- but I just feel better when he is around. He is my bestest friend, the coolest person, and my sounding board. Brooke has helped me fill my weekend with the Race for the Cure on Sunday. The rest of the weekend is full of b-days. Joey is turning 3!! The past weekend was filled with me working on Saturday and a relaxing night on the back porch with AB, me, a cigar, Hoegaarden , and a great conversation= priceless. Then, Sunday started off with a 17 miles bike ride around the lake and then rest of the day was spent on the lake.
