Embracing the Future....

Last night Aaron and I finished putting together the fishing/depth finder. We were so excited we took the boat out for a dip in the lake. Aaron and I explored the lake - we went places we have never been before because now we know the depth of the water. Of course we fished a little and Aaron caught a fish- I of course did not. Check out his catch: You think AB was happy about his catch? Then we watched the sunset over the dam on our float back to shore. It was a great night. TGIF! We are baby-sitting for Jillian and Jacob tonight, and then I am off to work on Saturday. We are hoping for a great day on the lake on Sunday before Aaron heads off to OK for another 2 weeks-for work. Summer is coming to an end quicker than we thought. It is the end of July and the temperature is in the 80's-this is almost unheard of for MO. Europe is around the corner and we are pumped. I cannot wait to see Pippa and explore Ireland, Germany and Austria with Aaron. It will be a much needed vacation....

One more Orientation down 2 more to go. Summer at UMKC is jammed packed with Saturday and Friday Orientations. It was a short weekend, but really awesome. After work on Saturday, AB and I went to dinner and a movie. We saw Harry Potter 6, loved it!!- but when did a movie on a Friday night become $10 a person? On Sunday, we rode our bikes 20 miles, then had lunch with Darby, Eric and baby Cash. After a great afternoon with the Niswongers; Aaron and I went shopping for a depth finder and a anchor for our boat. We returned home late and finished the night off with a couple episodes of Friends! Monday is hear already and the week is starting off with a bang. I lost one of my wallets- bummer and it is another long week with our last Orientation on Saturday. Wishing everyone the best! Until next time: Cupcakes and apple sauce!!

Over last weekend Aaron and I became proud owners of a 1973 fish and ski boat. I have never seen Aaron smile so wide before-like a kid in a candy shop. We enjoyed loads of fishing and swimming all weekend long. Now it is Tuesday and the reality of the work week has set in- plus the sun has gone away. I am working this weekend only 2 more Orientations left for the summer. One this weekend and one next weekend. I am turning the big 28 on Monday- Crazy- I still remember 21 the summer before I left for Europe or 24 when AB proposed- like yesterday. My baby making mojo is buzzing the closer I get to the big 30, but so is my travel bug. Aaron and I are off to Europe in 6 1/2 weeks for 10 days ya!!! 5 days in Ireland and 5 days in Germany. When I think of both of those places I think of my roomie from UNI in Hull Stephanie, who leads the coolest life ever as a traveling nurse. Right know she is a nurse on the Semester a Sea boat. I returned last night from a warm weekend in Dallas with Brooke to visit our friend Sarah. A quick work day on Friday and before we knew it Brooke and I were in steamy, hot Dallas. Sarah took us out to a yummy Mexican restaurant and then we went to this bar called the Ginger Man . There were loads of international beers. I enjoyed a few 1664's-my favorite beer when I travel to Europe. Saturday was spent with a quick gym workout, then a great breakfast, a nail appointment, and then to the mall for some indoor shopping. After that we grab some frozen yogurt and headed to the pool. We ate dinner at the best place ever FireSide Pies and then played a great game of Taboo with Sarah's boyfriend Colin. Sunday went by quick. Brooke and I were suddenly back at the airport already too soon. Brooke was ready to get back to see baby Nate, and go figure our flight was delayed. We got back into KC around 5 ish . After a busy weekend it is back to work AB is off to OK for 2 weeks and I am back to work on a slow starting Monday. AB & I started the weekend off at the Warden's house. Enjoying WT Golf, great eats, and fishing for beer!! Gotta Love it. Then Saturday, we headed to the Fire Work Stand- Where $10 does not go as far as I remember, as a kid. Then the local Forth of July Parade for kids. We watched Jillian, Jacob and all the other small children parade around the town square. Then we all enjoyed some yummy bomb pops. Here are some pics: After the Parade we enjoyed a rest day until the Forth of July Party at Tony's and Mel's started. Also, we were celebrating Jillian's second b-day. AB and I spent most of the night with Jacob lighting off fire-works. I was a great night. Sunday, we were up to an early start for a 20mi bike ride around the Lake. A great homemade pizza lunch, cleaning cars, cleaning clothes, a couple glasses of wine with dinner and a great fresh salad. ...
