Embracing the Future....

A small town trip. This past weekend we spent with my grandparents in Herington, KS. Friday night I ran with Brooke;then AB and I enjoyed a quite dinner at home. Saturday we were up early to make our way to Herington, KS- a small town 2 & 1/2 hours Southwest of our place. We drank coffee and sang songs for most of the morning. We were greeted with lunch, shopping downtown, puzzle mania, and good old mac-cheese dinner. We woke up early on Sunday for a 4mile run around the town. Then enjoy great homemade biscuits and gravy, before heading back home. We stop on the way to do a little shopping, before we headed home for good. It was a rainy day, we spent the rest of the afternoon by the fire and doing laundry. Another busy week ahead of us: 2 hard wood floor estimates, a trip to the Dentist, a big work event for me and to top it off a Barton family dinner on Friday after work for October birthdays'. This past weekend started with a bang! Friday night, Aaron and I worked at the College Basketball Experience in down town KC. We were selling UMKC alumni gear. It was a cool place to visit, if you have not been and live in the KC area I would check it out. Then we grabbed a bite to eat before heading home. We catched a few zzz, before waking up on another drizzly morning to run the KC Marathon Relay. We headed downtown to find Adam, who was starting off the race for the "4 Amigos". Adam ran 9 miles, then Laura ran 4 miles, Aaron ran 7 miles, and I finished the race with 6.2 miles. We finished 8th out of 108 teams, our finish time was 3 hrs and 36 minutes. It was a great start to a dreary morning. Then Aaron and I headed to Costco for some much needed shopping, before heading back home for a little R&R around the house. Sunday, I went wedding dress shopping with Laura. We found the prettiest dress for her May 2009 wedding to Burton. I am excited!! 2 May weddings. Fun tim...

What a cold MO weekend! Another Friday night run with Brooke, then I made my way out of the city for the weekend. We spent Saturday morning helping Aaron's boss Rudy and Wife Sarah volunteer at the Kearney CC (Cross Country) meet. It was cold, cold cold! 38degrees cold. brrrrrr. Jasmine their daughter won varsity CC, her 5K time was 19:40. After the race we headed over to Liberty to do some much needed shopping. We bought a boat cover for Bessie, winter work boats for Aaron, and some work cloths for me. We rounded off the afternoon with a long stop at the Price Chopper (grocery store) before heading home. The first thing I did when we got home was start a fire to help warm up my cold bones. We enjoyed some warm soup, while watching a couple episodes of Friends before bed. Sunday, was another early rise. I started making chili, and breakfast at the same time. My mom, dad, sister and her boyfriend Phil stopped by to watch some football around noon, so I needed to get my bake on. We ...

Another great weekend. Friday night I ran with Brooke after work, then AB and I played close to home. Saturday was a jammed packed day. The morning was spent with Rebecca at the City Market - full of spices, coffees, fresh picked apples, Cinnamon kettle corn, warm Chai teas, homemade molasses cookies, the bustle of the city, and a trip to the bike shop- where 5'2' means an extra small bike frame! I am so short. We also discovered sweat potatoes, fresh bacon, antiquing at it's finest, and smiles from ear to ear because good friends were near. AB and I had to say good-bye to Becca and make our way back home- after a quick stop at the recycling center. It was Jacobs(our nephew's) 5 birthday party on Saturday. We headed over to Tony & Mel's house around 1pm, after a long awaited couple of hours, around 3pm we started to chow down on some chili, open some presents, eat some bugs, and lick our finger which were covered in mud.
