A traveler's story- Part One
We left for Dublin, after a four hour lay over in Phil, the flight was shorter than we expected- there was a strong tail wind. We found our way to the Trinity Capital Hotel via Paddy Wagon Tour bus. Gotta love a free ride. (here is a pic of our hotel)
We could not check in yet, but we dropped our bags off and headed out for some much needed lunch. We ate a Queen of Tarts, then we stopped in the Porter House Pub for a pint before we made our way to Christ Church Cathedral, what a sight to see.The church was breath takingly old, then we made our way to the Dublin Castle and found the tourist office. Where we were to meet for out tour the next day, then we headed back to the hotel for a short cat nap. Then we grabbed a snack before heading to the Abbey Theatre (Ireland's National Theatre) to see 'The Rivals'- a romantic comedy. It rocked- we even saw a few of the actors after the play in a local pub.
The next day was spent with the Extreme Ireland Tour Company traveling across country to visit the Cliffs of Moher. The day starting off cloudy, but when we finally arrived at the cliffs it was pouring down rain & very windy. Our umbrellas and rain coats were no match for the "Liquid Sunshine of Ireland". We got soaked. Needless to say we had a great time. The cliffs were beautiful even in the rain and the day was not lost. After a great lunch in a local pub, the rain began to clear as we headed down the country side. The small roads were lined with tall bushes, cobble stone walls, and loads of spray painted sheep. Derek, our driver, drove our 15 person van like he was driving a mini. We stopped a few more times to check out the coast and a couple castles before heading back to Dublin.
We changed out of our damp cloths and headed back out for dinner at a little Italian restaurant down a cobble stone alley. Were the tables we lined with candles and beautiful linens. After the best pizza ever we made our way to the Temple Bar district, were we had a drink in the Purty Kitchen and then a bar called Farringtins. Good times. We meet some locals and 2 women from Georgia. We put back a few pints of Killarny before we stumbled hoe down a cobble stone path to our hotel.- Day 2 Check!
Stay tuned for more to come....................
